Getting to the Great Trail Race

North Tahoe and Truckee are easily reached from Northern California by car, bus or train, or via air into Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Truckee (start) and Tahoe City (finish) can be reached by car on US Interstate 80 from Reno in the east and Sacramento in the West. From Truckee, Highway 89 heads south 13 miles to Tahoe City. From the south, Interstate 50 leads into Tahoe from Sacramento to the west and Carson City to the east, connecting with either Highway 89 north to Tahoe City or Highway 28 west to Tahoe City.

All major car rental companies are represented at Reno Tahoe International Airport. Two routes leading to North Tahoe, I-80 or Nevada Highway 431. Rental vehicles are also available at Truckee Tahoe general aviation airport.

Numerous hotels and off-season lodging bargains are available near the start in Truckee, the finish in Tahoe City, or in nearby Kings Beach, Squaw Valley and Northstar. Click here for lodging!

Point to Point, How To Plan Your Day:

The Great Trail Race features a point to point course. The start is TBA and the finish is at the Highlands Community Center also known as Tahoe Cross Country in Tahoe City. Click here for information on coordinating your shuttle.

If you want to peel a layer prior to starting bags will be provided for you and they will be transported to the finish.
